Early in 2008, I had a vision while in prayer.
I saw a river flowing down the center of Wilmington NC.
It was flowing North to South. This river was the pure living water of God. People from miles and miles away were attracted to Wilmington NC because of this river.
Two Attractions: Business and Recreation
I felt the Cape Fear River and Wrightsville Beach represented two areas of attraction for both visitors and residents.
The Cape Fear River I felt represented business, thinking primarily of the Port and Central Business District downtown. I believe people have come to Wilmington in response to the business climate and investment opportunities that have been available in Wilmington.
I felt Wrightsville Beach represented recreation. With the beaches, the Intracoastal Waterway, and much more, countless numbers of people over the years have sought to get away from the everyday grind by soaking in the tranquility that the water surrounding Wilmington provides.
A New Attraction: The River of God
Yet, in this vision, I saw people coming from miles away to seek after another water feature in Wilmington. A new water feature. A spiritual water feature. I saw this river both on a city wide scale and also a phenomenon in individuals churches.
I could see people lining up to attend worship services at Wilmington churches. People were being set free, healed and restored in the presence of God. There was an excitement and an expectation for what God would do in their midst.
Two Key Groups of People
There were two things I noticed about this river flowing through Wilmington that I do not fully understand yet.
The first, was that the river flowed down the center of Wilmington. I felt this represented the heart of Wilmington. I don’t fully understand what the “heart of Wilmington” represents yet.
The second thing was that I40/College Rd travels along the path which I saw the river flowing. I believe this river will attract people from outside of the state of North Carolina. I also believe the college, specifically college students will play a crucial role in this river flowing in Wilmington.
This River will Touch Other North Carolina Cities
One more thing I believe will happen as a result of this river flowing in Wilmington: I believe this river will touch and bring changes in the spiritual atmosphere of Raleigh, Greensboro, Winston Salem and Charlotte NC.
I believe there will also be an overflow of what God will do in these cities to smaller towns around these cities. I could see Wilson, Rocky Mount, and Greenville being a triangle of encouragement to one another as ministry and ministers flowed in and out of Raleigh NC.
I believe the river in Wilmington will have a connection to these strategic outposts.
In 2009, I am believing for this river to begin to flow!

This is from one my favorite worship albums of all time. Sound of Rain 1 with David Quinlan.
I don’t really care for the slide show but this was the only clip I could find of the song.

The four videos below are of husband and wife worship duo Alberto and Kimberly Rivera filmed leading a group of believers to soak in the presence of God in a service in Toronto Canada. Each video picks up where the other left off since You Tube only allows for a certain length for videos.
The Riveras are anointed and go places in worship that will leave you on the floor encountering a mighty, yet gentle and loving Father.
The reason I wanted to post the videos was to give a place here on Life In His Presence where you could jump into worship and just spend time in His Presence.
Enjoy! (worship starts to really flow around 8 minutes in.)
This past Sunday in Wilmington NC, Josh Baldwin lead worship at Morningstar Fellowship Church, Wilmington NC. It was a great time in God’s presence. If you haven’t heard Josh, check out the video below.
I describe my experience with God during times when Josh Baldwin has lead worship as God crashing into me. I get invaded by God’s love and His heart for me. Check out some of Josh Baldwin’s songs and how you can buy his new worship debut albulm at http://www.myspace.com/joshbaldwin …All Fall Down is a favorite!
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!”
Two words really get me here: rejoice and always. Let’s talk about “always” for a second. Let’s be honest, “rejoicing always” seems to be an idealistic “nice-if-you-could” notion. But Paul lays this out as a command. By default, being that this is in Scripture, this command goes beyond Paul and becomes a scriptural command from the Lord.
First of all, I don’t feel like rejoicing always.
I feel down at times. I feel sluggish occassionally. Even hopelessness tries finding its way into my head and emotions. Rejoicing seems to be a stretch even on occassion when you look at the world we live in and the difficulties we face. BUT!!! there is a very very very (very very very) important phrase that we (more…)
David was floored
I had this thought jump into my mind. When God restores someone, he floors them. David has the most remarkable repentance of a sin many of us will never commit (in the literal sense). Why? Not many of us will become kings where we could give a command to have the husband positioned in battle in such a way that he will be killed. All to cover up David’s adulterous act with this man’s wife. [Read it here.] Not getting caught up in the details and implication of this story…they are immense and beyond a blog. Fast-forwarding to the restoration of David. Specifically to one particular part of David’s restoration.
A painful awakening
After Nathan rebuked him and David fessed up, David went to his house. “He fasted and went into his house and spent the nights lying on the ground“ (2 Sam. 12:16b). How many business negotiations do you see where the involved parties are lying on the ground? How many politicians deliberate with their faces on the ground? Or their faces facing the sky? In ancient times, before high powered weapons, how many warriors fought battles from a passive prostrate position on the ground? I can’t think of any either. Why? Lying on the ground is a vulnerable position that does not display strength.
Not like other kings
David was a powerful king. But his power was obtained much differently than the rest of the kings of the earth. His power was obtained through prostrating himself (literally and figuratively) before the Lord. David was a worshipper. The word worship means to “bow down”. It implies humbling one’s heart in submission to honor and glorify the one being worshipped. In the world’s system, greatness comes from rising up. Greatness in God’s kingdom comes through humbling one’s self before God. David knew he had screwed up. He knew where screwed up. [Read David's prayer of repentance here.] He got comfortable standing. When God wants to restore you to His presence, He will floor you. Get comfortable with the floor. It is God’s operating table. It is the people who can stay low to the ground long enough for God to do His thing that He can trust with power and authority. Floor me Lord!
